For most wheelchair users a wheelchair bag is a sound investment. They come in many shapes, sizes and types; each with their own advantages and disadvantages. The most popular types of wheelchair bags are backpack bags, Armrest or Pannier Bags and Under Seat Bags
Wheelchair Backpack Bags are attached to the back of a wheelchair, either to the seat frame or have straps to place over the handlebars. These bags are ideal for bulking items, like shopping, blankets and coats. While these bags offer the largest amount of storage capacity, they can be difficult for a wheelchair user to access on a regular basis.
Wheelchair Panier Bags fit to the armrest of the wheelchair. Many are designed so they can be placed on either the left or the right armrest. They offer limited storage space but are ideal for small items like wallets, medication and mobile phones which need to be accessed regularly. Most people find having their valuables in a panier bag is more reassuring than storing them in a backpack, or under seat bag.
Wheelchair Under Seat backs are designed to offer a large storage capacity and be more convenient to access than a wheelchair back pack.
